Mykonos Hotels

I am trying to find the right place to stay for myself and two friends (mid 20s). We ideally want something quiet but close to town so we can experience all that Mykonos has to offer.

I have narrowed it down to a couple of options. I was wondering if anyone has opinions regarding any of these hotels/if there are other great ones within our budget (130 euro/night) out there.

Mykonos Beach Hotel
Hotel Carbonaki
Madalena Hotel

I am presently in Mykonos and holiday and as today is rainy here I am. I would advise you to check out places in Platys Gialos (beach area).I am staying at the Pelican Bay Art Hotel and it is lovely but might be pricey. There are lots of other hotels in the area. The bus service is excellent-every hour the bus goes straight to town in 5 minutes. But if you stay in Mykonos town you will more than likely just want to head to the beach-this one(Platys Gialos) or Paradise Beach but you can walk to Paradise Beach from the beach at this location. Mykonos is a great spot for all ages-there are loads of young people in there twenties (right night it is spring break at the universities here) but my husband and I (in our forties ) have found lots to do as the walking is fantastic and people watching in town is fun too.

Just returned and stayed at Rochari, no complaints, they could not have been nicer. Our room had a large balcony over looking the town. $78- included breakfast. There is a path right out the back of the hotel that leads you right into to the center of things.

I stayed at the Rochari as well and recommend it. It is friendly, quiet at night yet close to the town centre. Ask for a room with a harbour view, not a garden room. The hotel is just high enough to overlook the town.

Of the hotels you mentioned I recommend the Kavalari-it is a basic, but nice family run place in the center of town, yet it is quite. I also like the Rochari which is on the main driving road in town up on a hill and some rooms have harbor views. There are regular buses from town to the beaches, so might as well stay right in town as you are planning. Be sure to do an excursion to Delos. Enjoy your visit to Greece!

Hi bostonlady

The Carbonaki is small family run hotel but has no sea views. It has good loaction just a little distance from the better Rochari district where hotels have good views. It is popular, good rates, a small pool and close to restaurants of town.

The Madalena is in Tourlos area, the other side of the old harbour. It is elevated so not good for anyone with walking problems. One thing I need to tell you is that below hotel this summer there are many renovations of the area and you will have some noises.

The Mykonos Beach Hotel is at Megali Ammos between new port adn old port. It is OK hotel, I hear nothing bad about it. Maybe about 20 minutes walk to Myonos town. Also, elevation, so may be difficult in hot wather for someone with difficulties

Think also of hotels in Rochari district. The Elena, Rochari Hotel, Semeli. All good hotels in my favouite area of our town, quiet but close to everthing.

Thank you all for the replies. I will continue the search (and branch out to the Rochari district)!
