Mykonos Day Trip
 

We are staying in Paros for 6 nights and are considering taking a trip to Mykonos just for the day. Can anyone make any suggestions for good, sandy beaches and interesting places to visit whilst we are there? Also, what would be the easiest way of getting around, bus or taxi, and at what cost? Thanks.

I believe the beaches that were the most &quot;sceney&quot; (lots of bars, restaurants, and exposed people) were Paradise and Super Paradise, depending on the amount of nudity you wanted to see or be a part of. <BR><BR>Delos was an amazing 1/2 hour long boat ride from Mykonos, it's a beautiful archaeological site on an uninhabited island. You could do that in the am, and then go to the beach in the pm. We took cabs everywhere, they were very cheap.

Landscape-wise, there's really not much to see on Mykonos (Delos somehow sucked up all the history and ruins) except for doing shops, bars, restaurants, sun and beaches.<BR><BR>Spend a few hours to walk around Hora (port &amp; capital). Myk is the most expensive of all islands. Town has a certain cosmopo charm (for a Grk isld)-- lots of boutiques &amp; chichi shops. But it's overly pristine with people constantly white-washing the buildings and even 'painting' faux stones on asphalt (you'll know what I mean). Windmills are OK to check out (some of the ones on the hill have keepers which let you climb inside to the top). The famous row of windmills ones are opposite Little Venice. LV is the place to be at sunset, but it gets crowded and the restaurant tables right on the water require that you order very overpriced, mediocre dinner and not just appetizers &amp; drinks.<BR><BR>Antonini's is a great place for food(off taxi square) where locals dine.<BR><BR>As for beaches, I only visited Agios Stefanos &amp; Paradise-- both packed and the latter can be party scene. There are regular buses to/from Hora to beaches. Taxis might cost 10+ euros.<BR><BR>A thing to note about the ports-- the slow ferries (2 hr to Paros) and small island excursion boats dock at the port right next to town/Hora. But fastboats (45 min to Paros) dock at the 'New Port' 1-2 miles north of the 'Old Port.' So just take a cab to the new port if catching a fastboat.<BR><BR>If you're staying on Paros-- I would recommend taking another day trip to Naxos (30 min away) for a nice change of scenary-- laid back, mountainous, beaches, and Temple of Apollo.
