Thank you guys so much for all your kind words, it's really making my day (which considering the freezing temps, snow squalls and fact that I had to go back to work after two weeks off really needed something nice).

The pbase site is nice but unfortunately doesn't allow for much in the way of descriptions. Most of the places I've been are quite "popular" and so are discussed on this forum all the time (as I said, you guys helped me plan these trips) - but if anyone has any questions about where certain shots were taken I'd be happy to answer them.

Dan woodlief - thanks for mentioning the photo of the dog in Paris - it's probably my favorite shot, and I know it's the favorite of my husband and a few other people. By the way, I've spent plenty of time on your website studying your photos. It's really flattering than someone as good as you commented on my stuff.

Again, thanks everyone.

What a treat for the eyes your pictures are. I'm looking into that Nikon for my trip Italy in September. Thank you so much for sharing them and transporting us to those incredible places.

Well, thanks Isabel. I consider the compliment returned. One of these days, real soon, well within the next couple of years, I am going to get into the digital camera world myself. I just can't decide whether to use my money now on new lenses or a digital SLR to use the lenses I have. It certainly would beat all the scanning I have to do. I have been working on scans from a recent New York trip for over a month, and I am finally starting to see a little daylight. Keep up the good work!!

Isabel -- Your photos are FANTASTIC!! I especially loved your New York City photos. It was a pleasure to view all of them. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the pictures. We are off to Paris on Monday and they made me even more excited. Looked carefully at the Paris ones. These are very nice pictures. Excellent !! I too am a photographer (amateur) and have made over 20 visits to Paris over the years. I probably could tell you exactly where you were standing when you took over 95% of these pictures. Needless to say I have lots of pictures of Paris albeit taken with a very different style. (One is not better than the other but they are DIFFERENT.) About 75% or more of the pictures I have are those of people. Most of the rest are of businesses, markets and street life of the city. Thus, it was interesting to see your stuff. In addition every year we have our pictures taken at the same spot in Paris (on the Pont Alexandre III). We have a series spanning the years; we look the same but the bridge is aging. Thanks for sharing your pictures with us.

Hey, great stuff Isabel. Being able to convey the feeling of a place is what good travel photography should do...and you've done it well. You have a nice mixture of large, sweeping views, and closer detail shots.

Agree with Dan about the dog shot in Paris...a real "decisive moment".

Also, great to see some Provence photos. I'll be there myself in June.

Topping for those who'd love to see great travel photos! These are some of the best I've ever seen, even better than most professional.

LoveItaly Aug 21st, 2005 07:31 PM

These photos are so beautiful they actually brought tears to my eyes.
Yes, better than most professional photos and I say that having had professional photographers in my family.

It is because, IMHO, it it not just the technical ability that ann "isabel" has with taking her photos it is that her heart, her love of the subject in each photo, shines through. A true artist! I am so grateful that this thread was brought back up to the top.

And a special thanks to bob the navigator for mentioning Jim Tardio's site. His photos are so lush.
Very Special photos also not to miss.

These are wonderful photos!

Isabel - these are really brilliant. Cheered me up no end as I sit in the office with rain pouring down on another fabulous British Summer Day! What kind of camera were you using?

sarahkay Aug 22nd, 2005 12:59 AM

Sorry, just read the thread properly now and you already give camera info! Ignore me.

BarryK Aug 22nd, 2005 03:42 AM

Outstanding pics. However, I question their authenticity seeing so many blue sky pics in Ireland :.)

massagediva Aug 22nd, 2005 04:25 AM

These photos made my day-just gorgeous!((f))

Loved your fabulous pictures! So far this morning I have visited Paris and Provence! I'm saving the rest for another time . . . so much beauty is too much for me! What an eye you have in your composition! I will be in Paris and Provence next June/July and have some new ideas to take with me! Thank you so much for such a treat and for such wonderful eye candy!

OK, I admit it! I have been using several of these pictures as wallpaper since this thread started last year.

There. Now I feel better. (At least I have good taste)

gracie04 Aug 22nd, 2005 10:36 AM

Thank you, beatchick for topping this thread. These beautiful photos are just what I needed today.

isabel Aug 22nd, 2005 03:58 PM

Hi. It's interesting that this old thread got reopened at this time cause I just put my Sicily photos on line last week. The ones from the Switzerland portion of the trip are almost ready.

Barry - very funny, that's just what my family and friends all say. In fact, whenever we have a really wonderful blue sky day, we say it's the kind of sky people won't believe I didn't photo-shop into my photos. (But I never do that). I was just feeling bad that my Swiss photos don't have alot of blue sky in them (we had quite a bit of clouds, especially on the days we were in the mountains) but then I heard about the terrible rain and flooding. I guess everything is relative.

Glad you all are enjoying the photos. Thanks so much for all the nice comments.

Deepa Aug 22nd, 2005 06:27 PM

Totally impressed. Each one is outstanding. Thank you very much for sharing.

Nina66 Aug 22nd, 2005 07:14 PM

Big Deal ... I have taken a lot of the same Paris pictures ;-) Unfortunately they look nothing like your stunning shots.

Not only do you have a fabulous eye, but your soul come shinning through your pictures.

Thank you for sharing with us. I too love the Cafe Dog.
