My Sharona, We're going to Verona

I'm taking a group of 19 adults to Verona on May 22-25.

We're staying at Hotel Mastino.

Looking for restaurant and winery tips.

Thanks to all!

More specifically, we're looking for informal, cheaper restaurants. The Swiss can really be cheapstakes!
(How do you think we save our money?)

How cheap is cheap to a cheapskate? I had some of the best eating in Italy during a trip to Verona. I can give you moderate places...

Cheapest might be on the other side of the river from the main part of town..

Hi Ekscrunchy:

How cheap? Less than Euro 25 for one person.

Moderate sounds good and we'd be willing to go to the other side of the river.

Thanks for replying and looking forward to your recommendations.

mmm, why I am as a cheapskate as a Swiss and I don't have the money a Swiss has ?

I mean...25 per person here in Spain is almost a splurge to me (not a big one, sure, but...) LOL

Hi Kenderina,

I agree. I'd be happy with restaurant recommendations that offer good food at much cheaper prices. It's just so hard to put a price on the word "cheap" and "moderate."

One place I loved that might be in that range is:

La Taverna di Stella, Via Stella, 5/C

This is a casual place with wonderful food, near the Piazza della Erbe. Closed Monday. My notes say that we paid the equivalent of $52 USD for two persons for dinner with house wine..but that was about 5 years ago.

I have heard good things about Trattoria all Isolo but have not been; I think it would be in the price range or thereabouts.
