My motorcycle in Europe
Driven through Europe a dozen times and always wondered how much fun it would be to ride a motorcycle this summer,(bucket list as well)
Washington DC Based ,I had a 30 day bike/camping trip last year and covered the whole USA. Not interested in renting a bike for 6 k euro so I am looking at shipping one of my bikes over there . I have an older model that I could leave ,depends on shipping cost. Not necessary to ship to Ireland/England , but I have family there if it makes things easier . Any advise ? Jim M |

Check out Stefan Knopf @ Knopf tours:
www.knopftours.com He provides transport of motorcycles from many US cities and secure storage in Heidelberg. He can also provide, or assist in obtaining German insurance. My husband knows someone that keeps a bike stored over with Stefan and goes over every yr to ride in Europe. |
As long as the paperwork is in order, and you have the proper insurance, there shouldn't be a problem, just don't think about selling it when you're ready to head home. The import tax would make it too expensive.

There's a guy in Ireland who specialises in arranging bike sales for foreigners - http://motofeirme.com/
Might be cheaper than shipping in the long run. |
