My Most Magical Moments in Ireland
 

Greetings, Folks

I had a wonderful trip to Ireland. My most magical moments were:

1. Walking the streets of Dublin during a rain shower and admiring the colorful umbrellas.
2. Driving by rolling hillsides of various shades of green with sheep dotted across the mountains.
3. Having to stop while cows and lambs crossed the street (now that's my kind of traffic).
4. Being serenading by 3 tipsy Irishmen.
5. The double rainbow in Galway.
6. Experiencing the Cliffs of Moher.
7. Seeing Irish children dance as we hiked the Aran Islands.
8. Dining at the Dunguaire Castle.
9. Watching a bike race in Killarney.
10. Having freshly bake scones and tea on an Irish farm, on a cold and foggy day.

Enjoy Ireland--I sure did!

If different takes are ok my favourite Irish travel moment was when we were locking our bikes to a post just off O'Connell Street. This young kind walking by said "I wouldn't do that if I were you". We asked why not. He said "They'll be gone in ten minutes."

Thanks kid. That was 1985.

I suspect some misreporting cold: Irish kids, even those of 1985, generally don't use the subjunctive correctly.

Lol Padraig - I am sure you are right. It was probably much shorter than that. Maybe this language recall attempt will be more accurate. It was July 1985. It was freezing. We drove by a beach on the Dingle Peninsula (we had one car and three bikes). It was a beautiful beach in a tiny cove. Looking now at Google Earth it may have been just north of Graigue.

One guy insists on going in the water despite the temperature. He says he is on vacation and he is going in the GD water. He was in for about five minutes. We then head up to a nearby restaurant so he can warm up. A young guy walks in the restaurant and says something like this, to no one in particular - "There's a f ing idiot down in the water."

Sounds like Clogher Strand. Yes, he was a f***ing idiot: it's very dangerous there.
