My mini Mini dream
 

Today I went with the intentions of buying a Mini. I ended up not buying one since they want $1000 over retail even with the bad economy. Well I love the car but not that much....I think I will travel instead.......

This happens with all the "hot" cars. You recall the PT Cruiser, the Mazda Miata, the VW New Beetle. Pretty scummy of the car dealers to do this. You can wait until the "hot" wears off a bit or find a dealer that does not treat people this way. The local BMW dealer here, who also sells Minis, stated that they would not charge over sticker simply because that creates nothing but ill will among customers and future customers. You won't get a discount but you won't pay above sticker. Very fair of them and also very, very rare to see a dealer take this stance. This same bloke owns a VW dealership which is excellent. My Passat goes there for any needs simply because this dealer is honest and upfront with customers.<BR><BR>Maybe you could try this dealer if you are close at all. It is Baron BMW in Mission, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City.

You can buy real Minis through a company in California. They take old Minis (what I think of as "real" Minis) and do an overhaul. They have a lot more character than the new ones, and you won't see everyone and their mothers driving around in one like you do the new Minis. Haven't bought one yet, unfortunately, but the website is interesting. Also, don't know the address, but found it by searching for Mini.

Have to agree with Ann, get a classic Mini, not a Bini (what we call the BMW Mini). There are many ways to locate them including Hemmings, Ebay and a site called Mini Mania (just search the internet) Tons of fun for a mini price!

Those cars are absolutely adorable! If I hadn't bought a new BMW last year, I'd definitely get one. How much are they, by the way?
