My middle name is spelled wrong on my flight ticket...
My middle name is Leigh (correct) on my passport but it shows as Lee (wrong) on my flight e-tickets that I just received today.
I leave on Tues from Toronto to Paris--yaay! Is this a big deal? The agent I spoke to was kind of a pain to deal with when I booked a couple of months ago and he was hard to understand so it's probably partly my fault too. |
Hi, Call the airline and ask them if it concerns you - I expect the agent checking you in could change it as well.

I sure wouldn't think so (it's such an obvious error), but I never even give them my middle name to begin with. It isn't required on a flight ticket.

You realize, of course, what you have done to yourself by posting this, right?
Half of us will say not to worry about it and the other half will make you think the world is about to come to an end because of it. So, what to do? More importantly, what CAN you do at this point? I would call the airline and ask them...why? Because they are the ones who will let you on/not let you on regardless of what you hear here. Another strategy..show up and act totally surprised that the agent spelled your middle name wrong, bat your eyelashes, etc. (Do you REALLY think that will work?) Good luck. |
Thanks all. Dukey you made me laugh! You are correct of course regarding your 'half & half' theory. When I downloaded my tickets and noticed the error the first thing I though of was to ask the good people in the fodor's forum.
Like Christina, I don't think a middle name is a requirement but I'll call the airline and see what I can do. |
I had this problem last week flying to Rome. I am a Delta pass rider and my daughter (the Delta employee) put my real middle name when she registered my pass not realizing I use my maiden name as my middle name on my passport. There was some consternation at the ticket counter, my heart was racing that I would be denied boarding. But he let me through...must change my info!

Last year I had a series of etix with my middle and last names transposed. It was the airline's error, but at each check-in point I was delayed a bit while they sorted it out. I would try to get correct etix if possible.

I don't know if it will be an issue or not, but will tell you what I witnessed in Tampa a few weeks ago.
For those of you who aren't familiar with Tampa, after check in, before going through security/x-rays etc, you have to take the monorail out to the airsides. Before getting on the shuttle, you have your id etc checked by a TSA agent. The lady in front of me, was not being allowed to proceed. From what I could hear, he ticket was listed as "Maddie" and her name is Madelyn (sp). She explained to the TSA agent that Maddie is a nickname, but he was not about to let her through. Her passport had her full name, and her ticket was different. She was told she would have to go back to the ticket counter and ask them to correct it, but he did tell her (for what it's worth) that they are not likely to change an international ticket. I would absolutely call the airline. Good luck, I hope you don't have any problems. |
