Wonderful report - concise, precise and absolutely easy to follow.

All in all, a fantastic guide.

We're going to Tuscany and CT this summer, and you have provided a lot of assistance.

Thanks, again.

Hello LizaMarie, I will be in Montalcino at the end of September, I also would like to visit San’antimo Abbey, can you give me some information on what to do once you get there I have read some of the schedules but I really do not understand the hours, I guess that in addition to masses there are different hours for chanting, can you tell me when I should go.

thanks

Thanks, great report! I'm thinking about doing CT after Tuscany in September and am trying to figure out where to return our rental. Did you have any issues returning the car in La Spezia (sp)? Any idea how far that is from Montepulciano (where we're coming from)? Seems like folks prefer the Pisa return but I think your route involves less train switching. Thanks!

devedi-
returning the car in la spezia was quite challenging! it was very hard to find the rental office and it was closed when we arrived. it was hard to talk with the person who finally opened the door as she didn't understand english. she was refusing to take the car at first but finally took it! I always recommend for people to return in pisa now! I think it took us about 4 hours to get to La Spezia from Siena. We hit a ton of traffic on the autostrada. It was mid week and mid morning, not sure why there was traffic! hence arriving at the office late with the car!
I added this trip report (updated a bit!) from this post and pictures to my travel blog in case anyone is interested!

stevelyon,
all of the cinque terre restaurants were good! I think I enjoyed the meal at La Lampara in Riomaggorie the best as well as the pizza on the waterfront in Vernazza (wish I knew the name of it!) those stand out the most to me though and to my husband too...! hope you have amazing time.
