How's that four?
Age 16 --> 1
2 youths --> 2
2 adults --> 2
1+2+2=5
The reason I wrote age 16 is because half of the places consider that as a child while other half consider it as a youth.
I've seen that website but I didn't look at passes because I thought we made a decision that we will be getting point-to-point tickets as they are cheaper. But I will look into it now just in case if it works out to be cheaper.
I'm all up for hiking but considering I've got 3-4 days in Switzerland and the total trip is 20+ days long, I also have to consider the stamina of rest of my family members. None of us have been to Switzerland before so right now I am interested in actually seeing the country as much as possible so we can possibly come back to it.
That being said I found a ticket from Luzern to Venice for 200EUR for 5 of us. This is a spectacular price, even cheaper than going from Bern which is actually closer.

well, because your trip is somewhat similar to what I did 3 years ago, and since I'm gonna make other europe tour this summer (mostly scandinavian parts and flight to santorini then go up), I just have some comments:
- zurich is a must if you visit switzerland. bern is okay, but zurich is exquisite.
- you shouldn't skip florence (firenze) between rome and venice.

Wow you are the first person who's said something good about Zurich. I've included it in my tour anyways
I can't stop at Florence this time sound but maybe something for next time.
I have booked all the hotels, trains & flights. Just need to look up to/from airport travel for Barcelona.
