She could always use the money you set aside for her bail for botox and resilin injections instead. By changing her birthdate, your gf risks people whispering about how horrible she looks for her age!

Jolie Sep 27th, 2004 12:16 PM

She should tell people she's ten years older than she really is - then they'll all say with envy "she really looks young!"

suze Sep 27th, 2004 12:16 PM

Again, assuming someone is seriously asking this incredibly silly question. Yes it is illegal to lie on your passport application. Secondly you have to present either your old passport, or a birth certificate. So unless she plans to take up forgery, tell your honey, you don't just get to pick a birthdate.

Having said that, she can lie about her weight on her drivers license, now that you can do!

P_M Sep 27th, 2004 12:43 PM

I was just sitting here trying to think of the last time such a silly question came up, then I remembered this little gem:

She could claim that her old passport was wrong... the state department would then saw her in half and count the rings.

My suggestion... print out all of the responses to your question and show them to her.

This has got to be one of the funniest (and stupidest) threads that I've ever seen!

KT Sep 27th, 2004 12:46 PM

Counting the rings would be awfully invasive.

Maybe they could just do some Carbon-14 dating on her in one of the baggage screening machines.

Kasja Sep 27th, 2004 12:53 PM

It seems like it would be easier if she just applied for a brand-new passport from some random other country (preferably one without an extradition treaty with your own country). That way, they wouldn't have a record of her real birthdate, and she'd just have to forge her birth certificate, and maybe a few other docs...

Try Botox...

Beatchick Sep 27th, 2004 12:56 PM

P_M, that one was a CLASSIC!

M_K, you sure do get straight to the point, dontcha.

wemr, if your trolling then this is one of the cleverest trolls I've seen in a while! LOL!!

Beatchick Sep 27th, 2004 12:57 PM

Actually, make that "you're trolling". :)

SuzieC Sep 27th, 2004 12:59 PM

ah yes...the probation guy,

I don't know, I think the one about flotation devices in Venice was pretty "boss, groovy and keen"

Patrick Sep 27th, 2004 01:17 PM

Please tell me that you're not seriously dating a girl who is so mixed up she's willing to commit a major offense because of her age vanity? If so, I suggest you need a new girlfriend.

KT, I'm with you!

Marilyn Sep 27th, 2004 02:03 PM

My mother lied about her age most of her life. She always looked younger, had me when she was 38 (unusually old back then), and could easily get away with knocking 5-10 years off her real age. Somehow her drivers license, etc, reflected her "younger" age.

But when it came time to get social security, ouch! My father never forgave her for the couple of years of payments that she missed out on. She didn't admit to her true age until she hit 90, bless her heart!

Vanity has no limits, except the jailhouse bars next to Martha's Federal cell.

Robespierre Sep 27th, 2004 02:51 PM

wemr asked "Or am I over-reacting to something that's not a real problem?"

Answers:

No, you're not over-reacting.

Yes, it is a real problem.

Yours.

Besides being illegal, it is a sign that your GF has no concept of her own self-worth. She apparently thinks that her age defines who she is, just as other women think they're their hair, or their breasts, or some other organ.

Whatever you do, don't have children with her until you've lived together for five years.

wren Sep 27th, 2004 03:24 PM

Robespierre, what an unusual last statement you made!
Maybe they need to travel together for 5 years before multiplying!!

Surfergirl Sep 27th, 2004 03:39 PM

If she does it and gets away with it (her passport can be revoked for lying), she will be stuck with it.

Back in the days when families had family passports and the word of the parent as to the age of the child was good, my friend's father applied for passports for all of his kids and mistakenly put down hers as July 7th instead of July 19th. When she was older, she tried to change it back, but even having a birth certificate wasn't going to ring the bell. So her driver's license and every other legal document now shows July 7th. The good news is, she was able to get her driver's license, drink, and will get her social security a whopping 12 days earlier than what would have happened but for her father's mistake.

When do we get to the part where wemr pops back in and tells us this was just a little tall tale? Or, will the joke get more eleaborate with the "girlfriend" stopping by to post about her motives? (I hope this is a joke.)

sfowler Sep 27th, 2004 04:09 PM

If this isn't a troll I feel sorry for BOTH of them.

The view from the Atlanta Federal Pen is lovely in the fall. On the other side of the razor wire from within, you might be able to see the fall colors.

I understand visiting hours are fairly liberal as well.
