My first trip to Italy
 

I am looking forward to celebrating my 40th b-day in Italy. We are going during the Christmas holidays Dec 25 to Dec 31st. Which city should we visit for our first trip.

Most people visit Rome, Florence and Venice for their first trips to Italy. But those may not be for you. It totally depends on your interest.

With less than a week in Dec, you might as well go to Rome.

I spent 4 months in Rome and enjoyed every minute of it! If you're going all the way to Italy, you shouldn't skip the capital. The city just oozes history, it's pretty overwhelming. Plus you can't beat the food (as long as you skip the tourist-trap restaurants in Piazza Navona)!
