My final Swiss Itinerary. TWO WEEKS!

My 4th trip, our third trip in 5 years. We have done many areas and are seeking great hiking and views and peace and nature.

We have a Swiss saver pass.

Hike the Lotschental valley.

6/16-6/19 Hotel Fafleralp Lotschental http://www.fafleralp.ch/en/index.html

6/19-21 Hotel Hermitage Evolene http://www.hermitage-evolene.ch/en/hotel.htm

Two bases for the Val D'Herens and Val D'Hermances

6/21-24 Hotel Kurhaus Arolla www.hotel-kurhaus.arolla.com/index-en.php3

Hiking in Bettmeralp region

6/24-27 Hotel Bettmerhoff Bettmeralp http://www.bettmerhof.ch/en/index2.htm

For 2 days and special dinner in Lucerne

6/27 Hotel Continental Park Lucerne http://www.continental.ch/

6/28 Crowne Plaza Zurich (only for the overnight bed!) www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/cp/1/en/hotel/zrhha

Flying PHL to Zurich non-stop and taking trains, buses and cable cars. I'm still trying to decide on Rick's special birthday dinner in Luzern. ? We are only taking hiking clothes, so want to keep it casual. Would the Old Swiss House be good? Anybody have any special suggestions for the regions we are visiting? I'm so excited!

I loved Hotel Fafleralp. It felt like being in a summer camp---very rustic. The food was not my favorite, but maybe it has improved. I saw a snake (poisonous adder) in the garden there but it wasn't threatening.

The hike up to the Anenhütte is terrific. I guess it was destroyed by an avalanche since I was there but has been rebuilt.

Lötschental Hohenweg is another good one.

But Bettmeralp has some of my favorite hikes of all. . .

Any suggestions for Bettmeralp hikes? I have the glacier mapped out, but am looking for a good forest trail. There are several restaurants in Wilder as well- I imagine we'll eat in different towns and bus back! Thanks for the heads up on the snake, lol. Actually, I've seen lots of snakes on our Swiss hikes. All non-threatening even though my husband couldn't resist a little poking ....BOYS! How have you been Enzian?

You'll see some of the most beautiful parts of the Alps. Great hiking there, too. But for my taste (very subjective) it would be too much hopping around. I prefer to stay in one place for a week or so.

Have a great time and of course I am looking forward to your trip report!

We sort of like hopping around! Except for the AZurich part and that's purely for the airport. We intend to travel with a carryon.

Well, we are down to six days now. I had real problems with Hotel Fafleralp. I wrote and wrote and contacted the booking agency twice, but never got a reply. I tried calling with no success. I could not risk jeopardizing the Lotschental portion of our trip, as there are few accomodations in this remote valley. Luckily, I was able to book the Hotel Edelweiss in Blatten:

So, fingers crossed!
