Thanks indogirl1 & leely2. Paris was incredible, that's a given. Venice was surely unique and beautiful, but I'd have to say I'm not the biggest fan. I like it much better at night, and the only neighborhood that I really love was Dorsoduro. I like Burano island too.

My network is too slow for your photos :( but I enjoyed your writing! Cool! I have been in Rome and I loved it :))
I found one cafe near Trevi fountain. The espresso was most delicious I have ever tried :)) just for 1 EUR!
I loved Forum the most in Rome. You have to see it, it's huge :)) and I've been in Rome for 5 days and it was too short...

Yeah, I spent 3.5 days there and barely scratched the surface too. But that's the reason to come back to Rome. Most of the espresso I had in Italy was 1 euro :)

pcooper: Thanks, I appreciate it. I use Nikon D5100 with 3 lens (all Nikon) in rotation (18-55, 55-300 and 50 f1.8).

Your photos are outstanding! Loved your blog and especially your future apartment! We were in Rome last September and loved it-even though we got lost a lot! The Vatican is just indescribable, isn't it?

Also love that, true to your fashionista soul, list the designer for all clothing worn. Great job!

The Vatican truly is one of a kind. It was a bit crowded but really I hadn't never seen anything like that. Trastevere neighborhood...who doesn't love it right?!

Your photos are great, especially your outfit shots complete with details.

We stayed in Trastevere our first time in Rome and loved it. So atmospheric.

The Vatican, yes, it is a total visual overdose. Our 14 year old loved it but slept for hours afterwards because he said his brain was tired!

Vatican City is too unbelievable, I was speechless the whole time. We were there for about more than 3 hours, and after I got out my brain was like scrambled eggs. Lol.

yes, great blog. i love your pics and descriptions of what you saw and did.

regarding the menu at Sora Margherita, it looks pretty standard stuff for Rome [which means nothing about the quality of the food, just that the offerings are nothing unusual] but a translation might not have helped, vis the english translation of the menu I came across in florence, which contained one dish called "cut".

it took me quite a while to work out that it was a beef steak which had been sliced or "cut' prior to serving.

Annhig, I know you're studying Italian, so you'll probably be glad to know that the dish you saw is called "tagliata" in Italian, which literally means "cut". Somebody probably just ran the whole menu through Google Translate.

Tagliata is a good cut of beef steak, grilled and then sliced. It's usually served with shredded arugula (dressed with olive oil and a squeeze of lemon, and scales of a top-quality parmigiano cheese over the steak slices, but there are other toppings, too. A similar dish, which doesn't have a name I know of, is made in the same way, but with thin-sliced bresaola (a cured beef), dipped in an olive oil and lemon dressing, in place of the steak.This is one of the easiest summer supper dishes in existence!

Confused, your photos are absolutely lovely. It's your eye more than your camera that makes them outstanding.

They did take a long time to load with my internet connection. I looked at the properties of a few of them, and saw that they were in the order of 2 mb. You really don't need such large pictures on a web page. Half that size or even less would be fine, and no one would notice the difference. You might try saving a version of your photos that are going to be posted online in a smaller size. It will make your pages load much faster.

By the way, I saw two photos of tagliata on your blog!!

Wow, this thread has been resurrected :) This time next month, it will have been a year since my trip to Rome (and Italy). Miss it. And thanks everyone for the kind words.

thanks, bvl. i eventually worked it out by seeing what was coming out of the kitchen!

talking about italian i'm taking a break from writing my end of year italian essay, which I'm finding quite a struggle as we could pick any topic we liked! much more difficult than being given a title to write about.
