MX Visa??? What's that??
Someone mentioned a MX Visa? Anyone know what that is and what you need to qualify for it? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi aartist,
I saw the original thread; I believe mikemo was referring to his Visa for Mexico (MX). |
There are many MX Visas for estadounidenses (those of us with PPs from the USA).
Most everyone who travels gets a FM-T upon entry which is good for 30 days, but can be extended for up to 180 days. An FM 3 visa is required for workers and a couple of other groups: retirees, students, etc. I'm a retiree, homeowner, and about to move permanently, so I need the FM 3 to take household stuff and a car duty free to MX. The FM 2 is for folks who want to stay forever, but it is more restrictive for foreigners who want to travel out of MX each year. M |
Thanks to both for the info. I appreciate the promptness. I am actually looking for a way to stay in Italy past the 90 day Tourist Visa. I am quickly running out of options. I am an artist painting in italy and studying the master works out here, but I am not attending a school. Some people have assured me that overstaying my Visa is no big deal, that they aren't too tough on americans, but I am not so sure its wise. I would rather not take the risk. Any ideas?

No rational person would do that in Mexico, mi amiga.

Have you tried going to your nearest Italian embassy and asking for a 180-day visa?

If it were me, I would seek the advice of an Italian lawyer who specializes in such things. Possibly the American embassy in Italy can refer you to one.
