Must Use Valid Email Address?
I just tried to respond to a question and used the email address I always use here; I kept getting a message that I must use a valid email address. Anyone else having this problem? I tried it a few times, same response.

Ignore the post; must have been just a quirk of the system at the moment.

In my experience, anything with an @ and a period will work!

Actually, there is such a message. The "checking" only amounts to counting the number of letters in the final "syllable" of the "e-mail address". It also checks to make sure that there is ONE "@" and ONLY one "@".<BR><BR>Thus, these are "valid" e-mail addresses:<BR><BR>[email protected]<BR>[email protected]<BR>xxx.xxx @xxxxxxxxx.x.xxx<BR><BR>but these are not:<BR><BR>[email protected]<BR>x@x@x<BR>xxx.xxx.xxx<BR>xxx@x xx.xxxx<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rexxxxxxxx<BR>

I sometimes get this message too. I find if just I go back and erase and retype the final "m" in ".com" it works just fine.
|
I get this message all the time. I just click again and it goes through.
|
I didn't get it this time, but I swear it depends on where on the little red symbol I click. I have better results clicking on the right side.
|
You have to give the same number of letters/symbols as a real address would have for it to be "valid"<BR>as in [email protected]<BR> [email protected]<BR> [email protected]<BR> [email protected]<BR>

All this info is probably correct, but right now the site is having trouble accepting e-mail addresses. I always use my real address and I just had it rejected. I put the same thing in a second and third time and had it rejected. On the fourth try, using the identical address, it got accepted.

It hasn't happened to me once.

This happens to me about every 7 to 10 posts. But I never need to erase and re-type my address - just click "post my reply" again and it always goes through.
