Must Sees in Budapest

We will be in Budapest for 2 1/2 days. What are the "must sees" while we are there?

I'm sure you'll get lots of replies. And if you do a search you can find some great things. Here are my 2 cents...

- The Zoo...simply amazing
- Hero's Monument
- National Art museum (free and in the Castle)
- Szentendre (the city and the open-air Ethnographical Museum (Skanzen)
- Parliament buildings
- Labyrinths beneath the Castle
- Vaci Utca (shopping street)

If you want to try in squeeze it in, spending a night in Eger and going to the wine cellars is an amazing thing to do.

If you click on my name, you'll seea trip report from March 2006.

Enjoy...amazing city (and country).

To add to the above:

Fishermans Bastion, great views of Parliament Building

Gellert Hotel Baths

Gellert Hill, get the bus to the top and visit the Citadel, and walk down pleasant wooded park area past the Gellert monument, visit the Cave Church then relax in the Gellert Baths further along the river.

The interior of the Zeanakademia.

I recommend Szechenyi Baths over Gellart. We did both and enjoyed them but think Szechenyi Baths better if you can only do one.

The Opera House, especially the interior.

Belcanto restaurant for dinner, next to the opera house, with singing waiters. Great fun, and good food.
