MUST SEE?

OK, so I have 3 months to spend in Spain and Portugal at the end of April until July.

I definitely know I wanna hang out in Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, Lisbon, Algarve.
See the running of the bulls in Pamplona, too.

But that's all I know. Anything you can say I should not miss?

FYI, I like to go out at night, clubbing, bars, eating, you name it. I want to do the crazy and wild things on top of the touristy things, so the more insane the better.

Danny

Hi.

If you are around Catalonia during June, maybe you will be able to participate in a Correfoc... Kinda like Pamplona, but with fireworks instead of bulls...

OR... maybe you can go to the town of Berga, north of Barcelona, and participate in La Patum... a weird experience at the very least...

I'm not sure if this takes place around these dates, but the Tomatina in Valencia could also be interesting...

Danny, Do not miss the Alhambra in Granada, the Alcazar in Sevilla, and the Prado museum in Madrid. Take a day trip down to Toledo. Study up on your art and history. Have a wonderful time.

I loved Costa del Sol. It was very different from the rest of Spain. It almost seemed like a California beach. Off the each was very quaint and "European". If you go there, try the fried anchovies. Be brave, they really are good.

You will also be close to other parts of Europe. Why don't you buy a Eurail pass?
On the Southern tip of Spain is Gibralta. It is very expensive. I loved seeing St. Michael's cave there and the barbary apes.

La Patum? Explain.

Barbary apes? PLEASE explain.

I am so intrigued now. That's it, I'm going.

So how do I find hostel information then in these places?

Danny

It gets very very hot in Spain in the summer months, so if I were you, I'd save the more northern areas--Madrid and the Pyrenees for July. I'd start in Barcelona, work my way down the Costa del Sol to Andalusia (Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Ronda, Rock of Gibraltar), maybe spend a couple of days or more in Morocco, and then go up to Madrid, Toledo and the mountains.
