Must do things in Rome-Help needed

Now I will be able to play a tourist myself in Rome 5-9 November but we have 3 full days.
I would like to know from experts must see sites, I want also Vatican on my list. Interested in history & ancient sites in general and shopping

Good restaurants and bar recommendations are also welcome.

Do you advice to pre-book tickets for the museums & sites. Being a travel agent and not having time to research ( cant believe I say this ) I trust Fodorities experiences.
Thank you very much for your input,

Murat

May I suggest you have a look at realrometours.com. We spent 7 great days in Rome in late September and used Gerard and his crew for a number of sightseeing tours. We booked everything before we left Australia and Gerard even rang our hotel to advise us of a proposed change to one of our tours. They give very good service and their tour guides are first class.

Try the tartufo at Tre Scalini in Piazza Navona. Excellent!

There is a new 3 day combo pass that includes the Vatican and lets you bypass lines. You will have to determine whether it works for you. It's called the Omnia Vatican and Rome Pass (85€).

Otherwise, you might want to get the Roma Pass (25€) as you can bypass lines with it also. Value wise, best use for the free entrances with the pass is Colosseum/Forum/Palantine (counts as one entrance), Borghese Galleria (reservation by phone required and tell them you are using the pass) or Capitoline.
