Music in Prague
We will be in Prague in August and are interested in attending classical concerts and perhaps the opera if it is in session. Any information about musical events that time of year and how we can order tickets would be great.

Sweetie, just walk down the street in Prague, and you will be handed fliers advertising musical concerts. Handbills are plastered all over the walls in Prague advertising music venues. There are concerts everywhere. Your hotel can probably hook you up. Check out www.praguepost.com for "arts" information. The website for the State Opera is www.opera.cz
When I was in Prague last July, the National Museum in Vaclavske Nametsi (St. Stanislaus Square) held concerts on Sunday. You will have no problem finding music in Prague. In fact, it will find you. |
Another site: www:Pis.cz for events.
Besides the fliers handed out on the streets, you could find a booklet for monthly music events from tourist centre/hotel reception. I am afraid I don't know how to book ticket ahead; but I bought all tickets for opera/concert from Cedok main office on Na Prinkope at one visit, the lady was quite helpful at selecting seating/ sort out alternatives without charging commission. |
Sorry about the funny face, the site shall be : www. pis.cz.

This site might help you too:
http://www.czechopera.cz/ I booked our tickets for the Bartered Bride at the National Theater in 2003 through this site. |
If you google "prague opera" you'll get a lot of information. In addition, most of the churches have nightly concerts and the accoustics are great.
