Music Boxes - Munich

Hello,
I was hoping someone could give me information on what stores in Munich might ship music boxes to the states.

I deeply regret not picking one up while we were there a couple of weeks ago. I had my heart set on one, but then saw the prices and didn't want to splurge on myself. I know it will cost me more to do it this way, but I realize now how much I really would like to have one.

I know there are a couple of souvenir shops in the middle of Marienplatz that carried them as well as a shop at the corner of Marienplatz and ViktualenMarkt. I just can't recall the names of these stores.

Thanks for any information.

Thanks for that site.

Also, thanks to everyone who calmed my worries about our hotel near the Munich Hauptbahnof. The area was just fine and Munich was wonderful.

Will top this for you. Glad you survived the so-called "seedy" area (been to New York lately?) around the main rail station...we knew you would!!

Thanks Intrepid. =o)

Nothing seedy really about that particular area, the only naughty shop we saw was near King's First Class.

The last time I was in NYC, friends were at a seminar and I had the day to myself to wander the neighborhoods exploring. It never crossed my mind to worry, I should have known Munich would be no worse.

I only wish I had two weeks instead of one to see all that we wanted. I researched a lot of info on Fodors. I love this site. I keep looking just to re-live it. I need a twelve step program now.

It was a great trip. Not knowing much of the German language was tough, but everyone was polite and helpful even though I butchered the few lines I knew.

> so-called "seedy" area

This kind of business is illegal downtown. If you look for seedy areas, you should go to Hansastrasse (a few 100m southwest of Donnersbergerbrückes S-Bahn Station) or Ingolstätter Street (north of Schwabing at the Euro- Intustrial-Park area and a few blocks behind). Its hidden from the tourists, but you just have to ask your reception for directions ;-)
