museum tickets

Can anyone tell me the best way to reserve tickets for museums in Florence? I have heard that if you get tickets ahead of time, you don't have to stand in long lines.

Thanks,
WSZ

for the Uffizi and the Accademia, advance timed tickets are recommended.
Your hotel will be happy to make the reservations on your behalf.

Yes, call ahead 1 or 2 days in advance for an appointment. Show up at the right time and you can walk right in. Guidebooks should have the museum's phone number. The people on the phone spoke English for me so you could probably call yourself, or as Elaine suggested ask your hotel to call.

You can also do it online but you pay a premium for it. When you reserve, they email you a confirmation that you take with you at the appointed time. You end up paying about about double (Accademia - 17 euro online vs. 8 euro door). I'd use Elaine's idea and have your hotel do it for you. I didn't think of that last time and we did it online which worked fine but cost more.

I don't think it's too early to make reservations now for June arrival. Do a text search for "Helpful Information Italy" and you will find a lot of useful information.
