Museum Pass at CDG
 

Hello, I have seen conflicting information about whether or not you can get Paris Museum passes at CDG. Can anyone tell me if they bought them there and if so where exactly? We will be arriving at Terminal 2 and then taking the TGV to the Loire Valley and have some time to kill. <BR><BR>Thanks.

I imagine you can buy your museum passes at CDG. We purchased ours at the Metro station after checking with the concierge on which location was closest to our hotel. We bought the 5 day pass for 45 euros each.

We bought our museum passes at a CDG tourist info office in March 2001. I do not remember the terminal number, but we found the shop easily after clearing customs, collecting our bags, and getting francs from an ATM. You should have no trouble.

Dear Kelly<BR>Our flight from US arrived at CDG Terminal 2C at 8:50am. While my husband & kids waited for the bags (which ultimately didn't make it - another story!), I searched in vain for the "information booth" the previous poster mentioned. The information booth I visited directed me to another booth, which directed me to the RER station where I was told you have to go to the city to get the passes. There were other "information booths" that were closed at the time, so maybe these would've had what I was looking for & maybe one of these was what our previous poster found. I, however, had NO LUCK at finding any museum passes at CDG. <BR>Hope you have better luck than I did! Enjoy your trip. If for some reason you don't get the passes right away, be aware you can buy them at the 1st museum you visit (I didn't know that when I was there - sometimes hindsight is perfect!).

I was at CDG over a year ago so my memory is not too fresh . . . but the tourist information place was not really a "booth;" it looked more like a shop or small travel agency with maps, books, brochures, etc. Also, things may have changed since then (which is why I specified the date). Anyway, you'll find them without too much effort -- in train or metro stations or possibly your hotel, as well as at the museums.<BR> Bon voyage.

My question would be why on earth you'd want to buy your Museum passes at CDG if you're heading for the Loire Valley, since the Museum passes are only good for a limited period of time? Museum passes are widely available, at tourist info offices, some of the metro stations and at the museums themselves. If you start at a small museum you won't encounter a line. As an aside -- museum passes are a bargain at any price to by-pass the lines.

They are good for only a limited period of time, but that time doesn't start until the first time you use it, so you could buy it whenever you want for later use. That's the reason why some agencies sell them abroad, otherwise, they couldn't. It made sense to me to want to buy it there to make use of down time in the airport.

I'm with Kathy. Why would you need a Paris Museum Pass if you're headed to the Loire Valley??? YOu can purchase the Paris Museum pass at most metro stations, at the front desk of most hotels, or at the first place included on the pass you visit. You may or may not "have some time to kill" all depending upon how long it takes your luggage to appear, if indeed it does...

I'm buying the passes before going to the Loire Valley because I want launch right into sightseeing when I return to Paris at the end of my stay if France. I see how my post might have been confusing. We are taking the TGV to the Loire Valley, picking up a car, after 3 days driving to Burgundy, staying there for 3 days, dropping the car in Dijon and taking the TGV back to Paris. If I don't get the passes at the airport I will get them at Gare de Lyon station. I have nearly 3 hours before the train so, I imagine I'll have some time even with delays. I'd rather walk around and get things done than sit and wait after the long flight.<BR><BR>Kelly
