I will confess my ignorance, and say that I had never heard of "Cesky Krumlov" before reading this thread.

Having googled the name, I am none the wiser as to why I should have heard of it.

I really like museums, but to mea museum is a collection of mainly historical items. I have always loved the Science, Natural History and British Museums in London.

I find myself too much of a philistine to appreciate art galleries, although I enjoy the Tate Modern - even if it is to ponder if they have hung some of the works upside down.

My husband, older son and I do enjoy visiting art museums. However they can be overwhelming at times especially if we don't plan ahead well to concentrate on the things we most want to see

I also really enjoy trips where we can see major art work in churches or other historic buildings. Van der Weyden's The Last Judgement in the Hospices de Beaune, the three Caravaggios in San Luigi de Francesci, the Tilman Riemenschneider Holy Blood altarpiece in Rothenburg and the van Eyck Adoration of the Lamb altarpiece in ghent are examples that come to mind
