museum cards in Alsace and Cote d'azur
 

Greetings,<BR><BR>Has anyone bought the above museum/sights cards? I saw them on one web site at a much reduced price but now can't recall where it was. Would appreciate any help on finding agin and whether you have had any experience with their value.<BR><BR>Many thanks.<BR>Robyn

Hi, Robyn. Those passes are available at http://www.euroquestpass.com/partners.asp (accessed from the Bonjour Paris website). I have never used them so don't know how useful they may be. I did notice, though, that this site also sells the Paris M et M pass, but for substantially more than one would pay in Paris. I don't know if that means that the Alsace and Cote d'Azur passes may be available for less elsewhere.

Hi Robyn: Our family used the Carte Musee Cote d'Azur last spring. We were there specifically to see art, so the pass was rather important to the trip. Prices are 1 day for 8 Euros; 3 consecutive days for 15 Euros, and 7 days out of 15 consecutive days for 25 Euros. It covered most of the museums we wanted to see with the notable exception of the Foundation Maeght Musee in St. Paul. As is the case with the museum pass in Paris, it motivates you to visit a few places you otherwise would never had included, and it also allows you to take a quick glance and say, &quot;I'd rather move on.&quot; There weren't any lines anywhere, so I can't say it was a help with that stuff.<BR><BR>Here's the URL for the French language pass site: http://www.cmca.net/fr/or/or.html<BR><BR>The English version is still under construction.<BR><BR>I am not familiar with any discounted deals out there. For our purposes, the cards paid for themselves by the third or fourth museum, although there are certain times for many of the museums when entry is free.<BR><BR>Would be happy to give you a run-down on any museums you're wondering about. We averaged about 3 per day.<BR><BR>

Using Betty's URL info, I was curious to see what the mark-up would be for the Cote d'Azur pass. It looks like they try to make money on the one-day pass but not really on the others. However, considering the cost of shipping and considering the wide availabity of the pass itself (tourist offices and all museum desks), I don't see how pre-purchase is of any advantage at all.
