Museo Correr- Clock Tower Tour
 

Am into micro planning for our August trip- first stop Venice. I was on the booking website for the Secret Itinieraries tour and I noticed tour availability of the inner workings of the clock tower at the Museo Correr.
Has anyoone done this?? Note: we'll be with our two teenagerd boys and yes-- are already very concerned about the heat!

Hi lbrawer, I can't give you info about the clock tower tour. but I just want to point out that the Museo Correr is an art museum and is separate from the Clock Tower.

However, it looks like if you booked the Clock Tower tour, you pick up your tickets from the box office at the Museo Correr.

We did the clock tower tour last year with 2 teens, and they really enjoyed it. You pick up the tickets and the guide at the Museo, then cross San Marco to the tower. The group size is small, there were only 2 other people with us. You get to see the tower working from the inside. It is well worth a visit.

TravMimi - how confined is the space and how hot does it get in the tower? I would love to do this tour next time in Venice but I'm claustrophobic so need to assess the tower before I go. Thanks!

adrienne - The tower is five of six stories high. The stairs from story to story are narrow and enclosed, BUT not claustrophobic as they are short climb each, 15 or 20 steps , much like a regular house story. Each floor you get to is quite open, not to worry. There are also little windows here and there. The tour group should also be small, which makes it nice. There is a lot to see inside with all the clock's workings and the statues. Our guide was great. I don't remember requesting english, but she spoke perfect english. She also answered every question we had and we could take all the pictures we wanted. When you get to the top, you are up near the bells and moor statues and out in the open. They view is wonderful. I think you'll really enjoy it.

Do you know that I've never been to Venice when the clock tower wasn't wrapped up! How's that for luck in 3 trips years apart from each other.

I loved this tour; what interesting history. It was fun looking over at the people near the horses on St Marks, and we were up there when the bells rang. The ticket included entry into the Museo, which I also found interesting. Look for the shoes designed to keep the wearer above the water/mud in the streets!
