Musée de l'Orangerie
Does anyone know if this museum has reopened after their renovation. Cannot find on web but several guidebooks give different reopening dates.
|
No. Definitely not. A thread about the museum came up two weeks ago. It's still firmly closed and probably won't open til next year at the earliest.
|
Closed until 2004.

Here's confirmation from a recent thread, provided by jahoulih:

Author: jahoulih ([email protected])
Date: 08/02/2002, 12:44 pm
Message: 2004 seems to be the correct date.

http://www.rmn.fr/gb/02musees/01presentation/musees/orangerie/orangerie.html

=======================
< BR>Best wishes,

Rex
Thank you folks, That is a huge dissappointment, But we will use it for an excuse to return to Paris another time. Maybe we will make Paris a day trip from London (gives me that exchuse for riding the Chunnel train)<G>
|
That would be the Channel tunnel train or the Eurostar. The "savvy" folks know that saying "chunnel" is as hip as saying "Frisco".
Thanks for the Channel tunnel train warning. I will make enough mistakes, no use in taking another with me.

Was there this week, and it is closed until Nov. at the earliest, but that could get pushed back. Sorry

Hi Everhart:
As the Orangerie is closed, if you're into Monet, I'd suggest seeing the Marmottan Museum. It's a bit further to access (take the metro), but worth the trip and we enjoyed it just as much as the Orangerie a few years ago.
Have a great trip!

TOCommuter, you must be into mind reading. I am just getting ready to post an inquiry on the Musee Marmottan Monet. Thanks for the heads up. It isn't even listed in all of the tour books.
