Murren versus Castelrotto

Been to Murren Switzerland and it was incredible. Will a trip to Castelrotto be disappointing after the wow factor of the swiss alps?

Hi Lindaec,
We've been to both places (didn't stay in either though). Stayed in Wengen in Switzerland and St. Christina in Val Gardena, not far from Castelrotto. We liked Val Gardena, which has 3 villages, each only 3 miles apart, better than Castelrotto. With a car Val Gardena is ideal in my opinion. As far as dissapointing after the wow of the Swiss Alps, not at all! The Alpe di Suisi is beautiful, the passes we drove (Sella and Gardena) magnificent (dolomite scenery was WOW) and the towns were charming and Tirolean in atmosphere. We stayed 4 nights in Oct. 2003 and loved the area. Here are some links if you're intersetd...

>Tirolean in atmosphere
Maybe that's because they are Tirolean?

Hi Logos999,
I know, but I assumed not everyone is familiar with that fact.

Another Paul here-
I'm not sure on what basis to make the comparison--they are both fantastic and I have reservations to be in both areas this August. I happen to really like Castlerotto--the blend of italian and german culture and food, the Alpe di Suisi is exceptional and I intend to further explore the Dolomiti on this trip. Of course, Murren has exceptional qualities as well--you can't go wrong in my opinion with either area.
Cheers--Paul
