Murren to Prague

Hey guys,
This October, me and hubby are going to be staying in Murren, Switzerland for 4 days and then planning to go to Prague after. Can we hire a car from Lauterbrunnen or Interlaken and drive to Prague or are we better off training to Basel then flying to Prague?

Cheers all.

You can go by train, bus or plane, according to your preferencies
Bus Berne - Prague: 13 hrs, about 47 EUR
Bus Zurich - Prague: 11 hrs, about 41 EUR
Train Berne - Prague: 12 - 13 hrs, different itineraries and fares
Easyjet or Vueling Basel - Prague: about 120 EUR plus train ticket Berne - Basel airport, standard fare about 40 EUR

Why not just take an evening train Murren to Zurich then the direct air-conditioned Czech sleeping-car from Zurich (21:40) to Prague's main Hlavni station (arrive 10:57)?

That would be an adventure! And an experience, and it saves a hotel bill and lots of daytime hours wasted at airports, too.

The sleeper starts at as little as €45 with a couchette (flat sleeping bunk) or from €79 with a bed in a cosy 2-bed sleeper with washbasin, shower at the end of the corridor. Deluxe sleepers with shower & toilet also available.

I've put info on how to book and photos at http://www.seat61.com/international-...zerland-Prague

a problem with returning a Swiss rental car in Prague could be dauntingly high drop-off charges for doing so - either fly or train -night train could be great - save on a hotel and a cozy 2-bed sleeper. For lots on trains check yes www.seat61.com and www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

we better off training to Basel then flying to Prague?>

why Basel -nothing from nearby Zurich?

Basel is an important easyJet hub these days, with direct flights to dozens of destinations, incl. Prague, and other low-costs like Wizz are using it - you're more likely to find a budget-priced flight from BSL.

easyJet also uses ZRH, for only 8 destinations, but not for Prague

Thank you all for the responses!

I only considered Basel because when i searched rome2rio, that was an option.

I will consider night train to Zurich

@Man_in_seat_61

How do you book for local train from interlaken to zurich through to this night train using one booking?
Excerpt from the link you sent"You can book through to Prague from many cities in Switzerland including Interlaken, Basel, Geneva, Brig, St Moritz... Your ticket then includes a Swiss domestic train to Zurich followed by the sleeper to Prague, much cheaper than buying a separate Swiss domestic ticket to Zurich"
