Where would your newly married wife prefer to go? It's hard to imagine a bride choosing Munich over Venice, but anything's possible.

Can you be specific about your February concerns? I don't understand the problem.

I agree with Jean. I'm actually going to be in Venice in Feb. Last time I went there was Xmas, and time before that was Jan. I am a huge fan of Venice in winter, and wouldn't go any other time.

Venice will be warmer than both Munich and Interlaken. Carnevale will be February 12th.

I thought Carnevale ended on 12th Feb (trying to avoid it myself.)

In Feb you can;t count on anyplace being warm - although in Germany and Switz you are more likely to get snow and in Venice cold rain (but snow is still possible).

Agree that it depends more on what you want to do. Either climate is fine given the proper clothes, esp winter boots.

What does the new wife think? Maybe she's the one who should be helping 'you' decide.

Veenice is not really about boating. People use boats because there are not many cars and roads in Venice, but there are quite a lot of canals.

Well, for a honeymoon, Venice is very romantic, Munich itself not so much.

You could google images of the respective cities and let your fiancee decide.

I've been to Venice in February and Munich in January -- each has its own kind of charm.

Venice is very pretty and festive in the days leading up to Carnivale, with lights and costumes and music in the piazzas and such. It can also be kind of damp and gloomy, sort of like London on a good day ;-). Munich and environs can be very pretty in the snow, also, but the Christmas decorations are long gone, and there is always a chance that you'll get dark and gloomy instead.

Overall, for romance, I'd vote for Venice, but neither is a bad choice. Either would make a nice combination with Interlaken.

I think that more information is needed before anybody can give a decent answer. First, what are your insterests? Second, what else is on your itinerary?

Is it just Interlaken and either Munich or Venice? What is it about Munich and Venice that brought them to the top of your list of possibilities?

I am as puzzled as november moon why of all places the choice seems to be narrowed to Venice or Munich. Unless you plan to go to Venice for carneval neither one would be my first choice. And even less for a honeymoon. And neither one will be "warm". If you are somewhat stuck in or near the Alps for whatever reasons, Vienna might be a more romantic spot for a honeymoon - at least they got decent heating there and there is more to see than in Munich.

Interlaken and the Swiss mountains shall be a nice in February, though.

Haven't we been around on Santori in in Feb about 12 times. that many places will be closed, there will be noting to do and it will likely be chilly and rainy with perhaps not to much heat indoors.

I just don't get going to a beahresort in midwinter.

And sorry - but Venice doesn;t he anyting to do with boating.

It's a fairly small city and you typically can walk to almost anyplace (although using bridges over many canals). There are vaporetti (bus boats) for longer distances if you want - but they are nothing like "boating" just riding a bus on the water.

nytraveler, don't forget gondolas. Perfect for honeymooners. And traghetti, gondola-ferries.
