Munich U-Bahn stops with fun neighborhoods?
 

I've been to Munich several times and get to visit again with my family this June. We always get a family u-bahn pass and enjoy the city's public transit. We have done most of the major touristy sites and would like to check out some neighborhoods outside of the Marienplatz. Can you recommend any stops that would land us in a cute neighborhood? We enjoy historic neighborhoods with shops, parks, restaurants, biergartens, and nice architecture. It's always fun climbing out of a subway into a new place! Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks sparkchaser - I was wanting to checking out the Schwabing neighborhood. Now we know which u-bahn stop to use. Any others?

We love Haidhausen neighborhood. After 33 visits to the city we always now stay at the Hotel Rizti there and have prowled around the neighborhood for years. Great stuff. Hop off U-Bahn at Max Weber Platz via U4 or U5
