Munich transportation questions

My husband and I arrive in Munich on a Tuesday around 5 p.m. and are staying at the Le Meridien right outside of the Hauptbahnhof. We were considering taking the Lufthansa airport bus for €10 pp, but I just read about a MMV partner ticket that cost €18 for the day. Since we will be sightseeing around Munich the day we arrive, would that be our best option? Which means we should just take the S-Bahn from the airport rather than the Lufthansa bus.

We will be in Munich until Friday afternoon, so we will be purchasing the 3-day partner ticket at the same time, and then validate it on Wednesday morning.

Let me clarify that we won't be doing much sightseeing that night, just probably getting dinner somewhere, but we'll probably want to take the U-Bahn to Marienplatz. I'm sure we'll be in a jetlagged coma that night after 3 flights. :(

Yes, perfect, you answered your question yourself. 18€ until 6am the next day, sounds good to me.

Enjoy!

Or you could also buy the 3 day city-tour-card at a machine.

Depending on where you want to go (BMW Museum, Nymphenburg...) this may be an option for you too.

Don't do it just to get to the Marienplatz; that is an easy walk from LeMeridien and IMO perfectly safe, even at night.

First, train is cheaper (plus you can use the ticket for your little side trip later to Marienplatz).
Second, and even more important IMO, trains will be faster and more on time than the bus. I would never consider the bus during rush hours.
Take any train you find waiting at the airport's S-Bahn station. Both lines call at Hauptbahnhof, but go into town on different routes. Which does not matter as travel times are almost exactly the same to the central station.

If you walk down to Marienplatz from the hotel watch for the Augustiner Brewery restaurant on your right hand side for a great place for dinner. It is a couple of blocks before you get to Marienplatz.

After you have dinner and look around Marienplatz you can use your ticket to take the subway bact to the trainstation.

When are your going?

We found the S-Bahn from the airport to be very easy, so I say save 2 euro and take the S-Bahn.
