Munich Trains
 

We need assistance in figuring out the cost of train travel which has changed since the first of the year.<BR>We will be spending 7 days in Munich in late October and would like to take train trips to Salzburg and to Fussen.<BR>Are there discount tickets available for travel on weekends or off hour travel?<BR><BR>I tried the DB rail system internet but can not find an English language version.<BR><BR>If someone could explain how the system works and what the lowest costs for travel to Salzburg and Fussen will be I will be most appreciative.

Here's the link to the DB page in English. I'm not sure about finding prices on it, I've used it only for planning times and stuff. On the Rick Steves website, he has a eurail page and has some rough estimates for the distances. If I remember correctly, the last time I made this trip, it was about $30 for a one way from Fussen to Munich. This was 2 years. Hope this helps!

Sorry, I forgot to add, this was for 2nd class. I think it was about a 2 hour trip and 2nd class was just fine. The DB page is pretty easy to use. It's been 2 years, but I don't recall ever seeing discounted rates for the days or times of travel, although I think there are sometimes saver passes if you are in a group.

You and up to 4 others can travel on a daypass to Salzburg and all around Bavaria if you get the &quot;Sch�nes Wochenende&quot; ticket (Sat and Sun, 28 Euros) or the &quot;Bayern Ticket&quot; (weekdays, 21 Euros.) You need to use the slightly slower regional trains; however, these are the only trains to F�ssen anyway. Just get on the DB website and click on &quot;Int. Guests&quot; on the top banner, or &quot;travelservice (timetable)&quot; in the left banner and you will get all the info you need. Enjoy your trip!
