Munich to Venice: train price & ticketing?

The Deutsche Bahn website says that the pricing information is unavailable for this journey. Can anyone give me an idea what a one-way ticket will cost (EuroCity train)?

Another question: is there any way to get a reservation today for 48 hours from now (March 22) if the traveller is still in California (leaving in 22 hours for Munich)? Or is buying a EuroCity ticket upon arrival (for a train that leaves an hour later) a perfectly reasonable option?

Thanks, friends...I'm helping a friend, too.

Hi
Hi trenitalia also has no on-line price.
Rail Europe wants $107 1st, and $72 2nd cl for the direct train.

Can't help with the reservation, maaybe raileurope can.

Thanks, ira. I just found that too...but raileurope seems to charge a $19 reservation fee (no ticket, no seat, just fee). Is that right?

Wait till you get there, I'm sure the trains won't be full at this time of year. Ricksteves.com has a time/cost map to estimate costs. I'm sure it'll be MUCH lower than raileurope.

You won't need a seat reservation, certainly not if you board in Munich. The direct train to Venice leaves Munich at 11:30 a.m. Earlier trains (7:30 and 9:30)require a very easy and simple change in Verona.

Hi
RailEurope will charge $19.00 to make the reservation for you if you already have a Eurailpass.

I have taken this trip on a Sunday in May and did not need a reservation for 1st cl.

I would also wait until I got to Munich to buy this ticket, however for budgeting purposes I looked at www.railsaver.com. A first class ticket would cost about $73. A second class is $49. A youth pass (I forget what age qualifies its at least 25) is $37 for a seat in second class. Hope this helps and have a wonderful trip.
Dave
