Munich to Rome in Mar '13

What is the 1) cheapest, 2) fastest and/or 3) most interesting, fun way to get from Munich (end of 2 weeks of skiing) to Rome (last 5 days of 4 week trip) in March? We ususally fly/drive in Europe and have only taken a train in Italy once (from Tuscany to Sorrento).

To know the cheapest you would need to check out the low-cost airlines available. But I would check from where you will really be. You can;t ski in Munich - so what are really the nearest airports?

To check out trains go to for information - again checking where you will really be - not Munich - unless you have decided to spend time in Munich after skiing.

I can't imagine flying is either fun or interesting. Train will be more comfortable and you might get some good views - but don;t know your exact route.

IMHO driving that trip in March makes little sense unless you plan on making several overnight stops on the way - and March really isn't the best time to do that.
