Munich - Stuttgart w/Kids
2 couples each with 5 year old daughters. We'll be in Munich starting June 30 and flying out of Stuttgart July 6. Thinking of staying in Munich until July 4, then taking the train (we will not have a car) to Stuttgart for 2 nights. Can anyone recommend a kid-friendly hotel near the train station there? Also considering staying in Ulm for the 2 nights instead...again, kid friendly hotel? Any other places you'd suggest staying instead? Our flight out on the 6th is at noon. We are considering going to Legoland - any comments? Thanks!

Check out the Uhland hotel that is (fairly) close to the train station in a nice neighborhood. It is five or six blocks from the Hauptbahnhof and away from some of the sleazy stuff around the train station They even have some rooms with bunk beds. It is next to Teriesenwiese (the Oktoberfest grounds) and near an U-Bahn station so it is easy to get around. They are nice people and we really enjoyed our stay with then just before Christmas.

hi there,
sorry, dont know about kid-friendly hotels. But have heard the Legoland (this near Guenzburg) is not the hit. Too many shops, less attractions. Ravensburger Spieleland (in Ravensburg) should be much better. in Munich I would recommand the "Deutsches Museum", as there are many interaktiv things to do for kids. In Stuttgart the "Rosenstein Museum", as dinosaurs are a hit for most kids. have fun Gar |
Our sons loved the German Legoland last summer. It is a very clean and well maintained compared to Six Flags or even Disneyworld. It can easily be done in a day, perhaps less. 5 year olds are the perfect age for Legoland as the park is best suited for 4 to 10 year olds.

While we've never visited the German Legoland, we have visited the other three and loved them all. Our boys are very into legos and the parks are really geared towards younger children as padams pointed out. They are well run, clean and we've found the staff to be very friendly.

Definitely check availability at the Hotel Uhland. Our family of four loved its family suite last June. Beautiful mansion converted to a B&B type hotel, wonderfully kept, nice breakfast and service, free bikes to borrow, great location in a quasi-residential/business neighborhood just 10 minutes' walk to the train station. A great value, too.
