anitas,
You might consider the Hotel Uhland, located a bratwurst's throw from the Oktoberfest grounds. While it's a hotel, it's small and quite intimate, featuring highly personable service, large, tidy rooms, and a fine breakfast. The Uhland has a traditional, Old World quality about it, yet it offers all the modern amenities you'll be seeking. It's affordably priced, too, and it's in a quiet, very safe residential area. Best of luck. |
Anitas,
how much per night can you spend? That would be a big help to answer your question. |
Another hotel is the Acanthus near Sedlinger Tor. A 10 minute easy walk to Marienplatz, great buffet breakfast, parking garage. They are larger than a B & B, they do have a web site and are recommended in the Karen Brown Guides. It did have a personable feel when we were there last month. Rooms on the street side can be a bit noisy due to traffic.

My suggestion is the Hotel Jedermann. It's right down the street from the Hauptbahnhof and has a trolley stop in front. Inexpensive, clean (like all German accomodations), sumptuous buffet breakfast and great staff. Free internet access. It even has parking, a rarity in Munich.

anitas,
As you can see, there are a lot of hotels in the general area you are discussing. Your question is pretty broad, however. Here is a link to the Munich Tourist Office which lists just about every hotel in Munich by area. Most of the hotels have websites to assist you in narrowing down your choices. http://www.muenchen-tourist.de/englisch/ Once you have some choices, then is a good time to come back to the board for specific suggestions. Otherwise, you will hear everything and be more confused. Enjoy Munich!! It's a great city. Dick |
