Munich hotel recommendations

Hello all. I'm looking for a hotel in Munich. On this visit, I want to see the Residenz, Alte Pinakotech and Bavarian National Museum, so something located convenient to those sites would be great. I'll be arriving via train from the airport, so I'd also like to be close to a train station/public transit. Thanks.

We really liked the boutique Hotel Uhland.

We walked to and from the train station a few times. Maybe a 10 minute walk.

I just stayed in the hotel Macross linked above. It's a pretty convenient location near the Markt, and there are trolley routes within a block. It is also close to Munich's Eataly.

One thing which you might find to be a negative--there is nobody at the front desk after 9pm, your room key opens the front door.

I can recommend the Hotel Platzl for several reasons: basically a block or so around the corner from the Marienplatz and you can get to that on BOTH the S-1 and S-8 lines from the airport.

Absolutely wonderful and extensive buffet breakfast

Across the street from the Hofbrau Haus and despite the popularity and noise from that venue we have never been disturbed by it.

The hotel is air conditioned and in Munichs' HUMID summers that is a big plus.

I stayed here: https://www.motel-one.com/en/hotels/munich/

starkly modern, free wifi, breakfast extra charge but sufficient.

In September, we stayed at both Pension Lindner (for 5 nights), and then at Hotel am Viktualienmarkt mentioned above. Both were great, but I liked PL a tad better as it was not quite as sterile feeling. Both hosts were wonderful! Location for both were excellent as well.

We prefer to base in Munich Ost, minutes from the Ost Bahnhof, which offers easy train access to just about everywhere (about four stops from Marienplatz) and a straight shot to the airport (about 30 minutes).

We've stayed in the Residence Inn and Marriott there, as well as where we are this very minute, Motel One. All have been good options, all about 12 minutes walk from the Ost Bahnhof, although Motel One's rooms are a bit compact for our tastes.
