Munich hotel - Konigshof
Family headed to Munich in December for a Christmas Market trip. Anyone stayed at the Konigshof Hotel? Seems nice on tripadvisor.com, but I've found that Fodors posters often have additional insights. Is it convenient? Clean? Quiet? thanks!

It is very centrally located, not far from RR station, at the Stachus (Karlsplatz)transportation center where streetcars and subways (U-Bahn and S-Bahn) meet. The Marienplatz is a short walk along the Neuhauser Strasse pedestrian zone.
Generally, I would classify the hotel as a business-type hotel, but it is very well run. It's dining room overlooks the Stachus. |
Try Priceline. I will be at the Munich Christmas markets, also.
I bid $75.00 and got the Munich Marriott, right in downtown Munich. |

That Marriott is in Swabing, not exactly down town Munich. You would have to take the S-Bahn to get "down town". It's also just a standard chain type hotel. Good price, however. I prefer a more "German" hotel which Konigshof is. Personally, I like the Tarbreau.

According to their website, the Munich Marriott is 2.5 miles from the city center.
There are 3 Marriotts downtown...2.5 miles, 2.3 miles & .09 miles from the City Center. True, not exactly downtown but close enough for the price. I do not like the German business hotels. |
I don't like any business type hotels, be it in Europe or the US.

I have stayed at the Konigshof and it's wonderful. Lovely, modern rooms with all the necessary amenities. The staff is extremely efficient and the location is very good, especially considering the U-bahn is right outside the front door.
I would describe the Konigshof as a small, boutique hotel and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Great pedestrian street right around the corner and the hotel is within a short walk to the main train station. Also, a nice walk over to the Marienplatz. Valarie |
