Munich airport - early flight, how to get there?

We'll be in Munich in early April and have a 6:45 a.m. flight out.

We are staying near the main train station and we are not renting a car. Does anyone have recommendations for the best way to get to the airport that early? Taxi, train, etc?

Thanks in advance.

I believe the S-Bahn begins running at 4:14 AM Line S-1 and Line S-8 both end at the airport and both stop at the main RR station.

The last time I took a taxi from that area to the airport it cost me about 45 Euro and at one point the driver was going about 120 MPH!

Any estimate of how long the S-Bahn ride takes vs. the taxi? We'd prefer public transport (we're just that kind of folks :-)), but if the time difference is huge, we'd taxi.

The taxi will take longer even in the morning. The S-Bahn is going at a speed of max. 120 km/h and is much faster downtown as well, compared to a car. Timetable at www.mvv-muenchen.de

Thanks for scoring me that timetable!

The taxi did not take as long as the S-Bahn since the S-Bahn makes various stops along the way(which I would also have preferred to use) but if you allow yourself enough time the S-Bahn will work well...the station at the airport is very convenient.
