Munich Airport

Hi Everyone,
I am going to Munich a week before my husband arrives and will be meeting him at the Munich Airport.
Since we have never been there, do you have any suggestions as to where would could meet up in the airport? We won't have cell phones and we don't want to miss one another in such a large airport.
Thanks a lot.

I think you can get much better responses if you post this on the European part of this forum.

Before you do, try to find out at which terminal his flight is arriving. There are two terminal buildings and it is important to know which one.

Without that knowledge, advising you will be very difficult because there are so many variables.

Delta arrives at Terminal 1; Us Airways arrives at Terminal 2.

So that is why I say you need to know the terminal.

Given that information, there are quite a few people on the European board who can give you good advice.

I have flown in and of Munich myself, and it is a large airport as you said.

Hi K,

Is it an absolute necessity that you meet him at the airport.

It would not be at all difficult for him to just come to your hotel.

Maybe the best point is the "meeting point" in the central area of the airport. When you exit the baggage claim area go to the central area or Munich Airport Center (MAC) and at the entrance to the central area you find the meeting point.

Look on the map: (see my next post)

Hi Everyone,

Bob, you asked at which terminal my husband's plane will be arriving.
I found out it is Terminal #1, Concourse F.

I will be coming from Bayreuth as I will have been in Germany for two weeks prior to his arrival. I will be coming with friends and do not know exactly when I will be arriving at the airport; however, it should be around 1 PM. His plane lands around noon. So, he needs a place to sit and wait for me. And, I need to be able to find him as we don't have cell phones. The McDonalds sounded like a good idea unless there is a place convenient for both of us to meet in the airport.

Perhaps, with this information, someone can tell me where we can meet. Remember, I won't have any plane ticket so my access inside the airport could be limited.

Thanks.

kipper1: There is a large courtyard between the Munich airport and the Kapinski hotel that has benches, tables and places to sit. If he is going to be waiting for you for an hour he may appreciate the chance to get outside and enjoy the fresh air after his flight so this might be a possibility. It is a rather large courtyard but I don't think you will have any trouble locating each other.

Contrary to its name, Terminal 1 F is a seperate building close to Terminal 2 (and not T1!) where flight to/from Israel are handled.

The parking garages highlighted in that chart are most suitable for accessing the central plaza (Munich Airport Center)

The Burger King in the central plaza (covered, yet open air) is probably a safe bet since there is only one, or the lobby of the Kempinski hotel if he wants to wait a bit more in style.

Thanks for the three suggestions.
Now, I feel much more relaxed because I know that we will be able to connect and then go to Salzburg together by train.
