Thanks again everyone! I'm wondering, does anyone have any experience with Expedia? That's who I'm thinking of using...I like that once you choose a flight and hotel, it gives you the option of adding many different tourist-y tickets/packages, such as the trips to Stonehenge, Oxford, and the Jack the Ripper tour (which I'm definitely interested in!) etc. Has anyone done this before, and how did it work out? Is this the way to go, or is it cheaper/easier to book these things on my own?

I've travelled a lot and would not use Expedia but that's just me. I've found over the years it's cheaper to book things yourself rather than go through a third party, after all they are making money somewhere.

Personally, I would do a lot of research, then book flights direct from the airline (become a Frequent Flyer member if you are not already), check www.tripadvisor.com for decent accommodation and book that direct with the hotel and just organise the day trips once you are here.

The walking tours with London Walks are £8 and they offer a Jack the Ripper one though I've never done it. You don't need to prebook with London Walks, just turn up, so if you wake up and feel sick or it's pouring rain then you can go another day. Why not do a list of what you'd pay doing all the bookings yourself then compare with what Expedia would charge?

Also for hotels in London, www.londontown.com can be good, they have a hotel map which shows where the hotel is and the price for your dates.
