Mucho Cool - My company is offering free language lessons
A few months back my company asked if staff would be interested in free language classes out of hours, in the office building.
I replied yes for Italian.
This week I just found out that the short class (6 weeks only) for Italian starts this Thursday night after work.
If you enjoy it you can sign up for the 40 week course, where you pay some small part such as £40 and the company pay over £100.
It got me to wondering what free development other companies offer around the world, particularly in the language arena. (I am not talking about job role training here, like when you go on an Excel course or a Management Skills course).

Very Cool! My company is a big international financial firm, and it wouldn't surprise me if such classes were offered, but they would be at headquarters, where the most of the employees are, so I would never have access, as I am in a branch on the other side of the country.
I'll be interested to see what other responses you get.

Kavey: I do work for a Swiss company. German and French are a must. Everything we do, is mostly in both languages. If you don't speak (quite fluently), understand or write either of the two, we send people to a language class. But they must make an effort themselves.
It's mostly done with Swiss Germans who are very weak in French.
Classes for other languages (Italian, English) are not paid, because they are not a must in my company, but welcomed.

I think I made a mistake here, sorry. I meant you must speak both of them (Germand AND) French to have a good change to get the job and then you will be sent to a language class.
If you quit the job shortly after it, you have to reimburse costs.
This "either", etc. is soo difficult.

Hello,
last year my boss paid a one-week Business-English course in Cambridge. It was one-to-one specially tailored for my needs. I had 5 different tutors and talked to them on the phone before I went. They did put together a program where everything important for my joHeadhunter) was featured-6 hours a day and around three hours homework(did it in the Pub). A lot of stress, but certainly worth it.
I didn`t pay a cent...
