Mt Tilis, Rigi time allowed

We have a train booked at 2:55PM Lucerne to Interlaken on a Sunday in September.

Do we have time to vist Mt Titlis or Rigi that morning?
[The hotel will keep our luggage for us.]

Thanks for advice.

You 'booked' that train? You mean, you plan to take this train! Your ticket is certainly valid on a later train as well. Or did you book a discounted offer that's only valid for this train?

I would do Mt. Titlis. The trains to Engelberg run frequently and take only 45 minutes. Start early, maybe dep. 8.06 am and you'll be in Engelberg by 9 am. That leaves enough time for going up to Mt. Titlis, a stroll through the village and the train ride back to Lucerne.

We purchased Swiss Passes, so I made a reservation for the 14:55
Golden Pass Lucerne to Interlaken. I want to see daylight as we travel on the Golden Pass.

We want to arrive in Lauterbrunnen in time for dinner and it will be getting dark once we arrive.

Maybe I should have just taken a regular train instead of the Golden Pass.

You say September. The following would help you decide for Titlis ( or Pilatus)-

20 AUG to 28 SEP, Rigi excursion will not be easy. From the lake side ( Weggis by cable and Vitznau by train ) you will not be able to go straight to Rigi Kulm, the top, due to a construction work. You can go to the top with shuttle that replaces one stretch and by hiking up and down another, but that seem a bit complicated. This may have been announced only recently and only on the German page of Rigi web site ( special time table during this period).

You can do however all the way to the top and vice versa from Arth-Goldau side behind Rigi. I have never taken that route and wonder if it's as nice as from the lake side.

kappa,
Thank you so very much.
Sounds complicated. So Rigi is out even if I had all day.
