MOVING TO ITALY AS AN AU PAIR.
 

Hello! I am moving to Senegallia, Italy to be an Au Pair for Three children. I need some advice on packing: Should I send luggage ahead or just travel with it?
Cell Phone: Does anyone know anything about International cell phones?
Airports: My tentative flight will take me through Munich, Germany and then to Ancona, italy(Which is right near Senegallia)..do ya'll know anything about these airports? especially in Munich?
Clothing: are there any particular styles that are inappropriate or silly to wear?

If your baggage gets checked thru and if you fly StarAlliance (Lufthansa, United,..), you will transfer in terminal 2, which is very easy.

If that is the case, you'll arrive on the upper level of T2, go thru passport control and security, and go one or two levels down (depending on which departure gate you will get). The building is one simple structure and easy to navigate.

As far as international cell phones you have a couple options. There is a company in the U.S that rents cell phones particular to the country that you're going to. I used it when I studied abroad in France and it's really simple. It's called PiccellWireless. You just set up an online account so it pays the bill online. Your other option is to wait until you get to Italy and get a pay as you go phone. This is pretty simple to and just means you go to the store, buy a cell phone and then put a certain amount worth of minutes on it. Then, periodically you go back to the store to put more money on. Pretty simple.

Inappropriate wear ,, as a nanny and a young woman in Italy, avoid baring too much flesh.
No belly tops or short shorts. You will be sorry as you will be hit on enough without that sort of wardrobe anyways.
Nice fashion jeans are very in, and apparently big sunglasses are in,, and Italians as a rule wear nice shoes, leather not flip flops so much.
Since you are working as a nanny wear comfy stuff you can run around in.

I would travel with my bag. I would not overpack as you can buy stuff there.
Don't go nuts packing, you likely will have a small room with not alot of storage remember.
If you like reading I would pack some books( ok, its just me, but I love reading) , as t.v. if available to you , will likely be all in Italian ( I am assuming you are not fluent, but if you are then smart and lucky you) .

What a great adventure, enjoy it, and even the " bumps in the road" will make great stories later!!
