moving to Denmark?

I'm considering applying for a job in Odense. The job is good, but I have never been to Denmark. Can anybody tell me something (anything) about it? How is life there?
Thanks!!

I got married in Copenhagen 6 weeks ago, I live in europe and was incredibly surprised by the high cost of everything. From a cup of take out coffee 4euro to an average dinner for two with 1 round of drinks and one dessert $82.00. It is a beautiful country, clean and safe but bring lots of money, as I suspect even groceries and utilities are going to be costly. They have great respect for speed limits and I hear the fines for speeding are incredibly steep.
MH

Hi

Denmark is Scandinavian, but less so than Sweden and Norway.

So, think clean, friendly, socialist, good services, high salaries, high taxes.

The weather is rather mild because it is surrounded by water.

Denmark has better value restaurants and lower priced drinks than Sweden or Norway.

As always, central Copenhagen tourist places can be expensive, but it is easy to find reasonably priced good restaurants.

Why not take a trip to see it first ?

Peter

Thanks for the replies. Anybody been to Odense in particular?

I think clean, safe etc. (I would call it socialdemocratic more than socialist though, for me socialist is former USSR), but I also have a feeling that it's a pretty boring and a dull place to live (I'm from Italy and live in California, so there could be quite a cultural shock for me, not to mention the weather...)

Any input appreciated!
Matt

Hi

The Danes are much more European than other Scandinavians. They eat out more (and can afford it), have more clubs and pubs. I think you would be happy with that side of life.

As for the weather ...... not as good as Italy or S California.

Peter
