Hi Claire,

if by any chance you are already in Barcelona next month of July, check the Shakespeare productions at the Grec. It is a coproduction between the Arriaga theatre in Bilbao, the Teatro Español in Madrid and the Grec in Barcelona. Directed by Lluis Pasqual and with great, great actors. I saw "Hamlet" last February in Bilbao, and I saw it again yesterday in Madrid, and it has been amazing. Eduard Fernandez is mesmerizing ...

They will be at the Grec between the 30th of June and the 16 of July.

Bye, Cova

Thank you, Cova! That is right at the beginning of my time back, so once there I will check it out. It has been a while since I went to the theater in Spain. . . the last time was in San Sebastian, actually.

Claire,

Yes, absolutely!

I suppose I could just e-mail him myself...I knew him "when" and I'm so proud of him!!!

And what a great job and place for you to be! Wonder if they want to hire any PhD Art Educators that can barely speak Spanish (let alone Catalan) LOL

Paula,

You should totally e-mail him! I love re-encounters of that sort. Have you watched his performance on the site? Alien Staff. It is really interesting. Also, if you are interested I can give you instructions on how to subscribe to the museum's podcast (it works best with iTunes, but there are other ways), which I love listening to.

Hi Laclaire

Congratulations on moving back to Barcelona. How exciting!

We were in Barcelona overnight before a cruise last month. In the short time I was there, I liked the city very much, and hope to return some day.

Thanks to reading your great posts, we were able to see a lot and maximize our time.

Good luck, and take care.

Johanna

Claire, I have found this website the other day when reading ADN (one of the multiple free dailies ... ) : http://www.bcnweek.com/

It is a weekly magazine written by expats in Barcelona, and it doesn´t look bad at all.

Bye, Cova

Cova- keep your eye on BCNweek and if you see a litle bio on yours truly, smile. I have been in touch with them for a while and am meeting with them on the week of the 26th. Cross those fingers!

Wow! One more week! Have you packed yet? And what are you going to wear when you get there?

I have sort of started packing. . . my room is in shambles and all of my clothes are in "organized" piles that radiate around a central point, which is sometimes me. There is also a mountain of shoes and I was in the slow process of choosing what to take when I left for Albuquerque (where I am now). I will have my suitcase and my cello which will be full of undies and socks as padding. Not a lot of space for anything, really, but I will send along a box later on.

Hi Claire,

be ready for the heat. Summer has arrived too early (although I am afraid that it´s being worse at home in Bilbao, last Thursday they reached 42 degrees, and at night they don´t get lower than 20 ... I am glad to live in Madrid ...).

Oh, you play the cello! Back in college, I organized a concert series, and I remember we had to buy a plane ticket for the cello. Still the case?

No pun intended.

Cova- I have been warned about the heat. It is super hot here, too, and no AC, so I think that I will make the transition well. I do need more deodorant, though. . .

Nikki- I carry my cello to the gate and put it onto the plane myself, so no need to buy another ticket. It is heavy, though, and I have a feeling the London airport will be really hellish getting through. Luckily a friend is coming to meet me!

I wake up in the morning grateful for many things. One of them is that I play the flute.

Oh holy terror! I just called the consulate because I have yet to receive my passport with visa in the mail (should have come by now). After talking to the woman and being put on hold she came back with the dreaded "remind me when you were here. . ." and I did. Then she came back and said "it is still in authorization. The only thing we can do is hope that it gets here before your departure date." So, here I am, praying and getting extremely nervous and feeling slightly sick. I hate this!

Oh laclaire, I was going to post to wish you a beautiful life in Barcelona! But know I need to say I am so sorry you haven't received your passport with the visa yet! I can only imagine how you feel. My very best wishes you get your passport by tomorrow.

God, Claire, I hope you get your passport on time to arrive here and watch how Saudi Arabia beats our boys next week

After yesterday´s game, everybody has gone football crazy ... Better listen to the following Gomaespuma song, and get used to the cold reality ...

Òh dear Claire! I do hope that you get your precious documents soon! I can't even imagine what you're going through.

Think positive. Best wishes, and I hope I come back from my vacation to see that you have received your passport and visa safe and sound! Best wishes...
