Movie "My House in Umbria"
Would anyone who has seen this movie know the location of the Umbrian village and also whether that really was what Chiusi Railway Station looked like before it was destroyed in the war ? Maggie Smith just keeps on getting better and better.

This is one of my most FAVORITE movies of all time - I bought it so I can watch it over and over again. My Italian friends said it looks like the countryside near Perugia. I was in Perugia 9 months ago and figured the location could be closer to the Toscana/Umbria border (nearish Cortona) because of the lush greenery and hillsides. I went through Chiusi and never made that connection when at the train station - it's a possibility though. Glad you liked the movie too! :)

And her costumes!! One of my favorites, too

I think the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. I remember asking aloud could there possibly be a place that beautiful!!!! Maggie Smith is extraordinary. I think I will watch it again this weekend.:)

I've only just seen this film and the credits revealed that San Casciano was one of the places visited. I'm anxious find out what the tiny Umbrian village Smith and the child visit to go the market is.. Looks incredible!!

I loved it too, but because of the garden
(and Maggie) |
Thanks for this thread...I've just requested the movie from my library. Can't wait to get it. The good part is I'll have it for a week so can watch it several times.
