Mountain Hiking Near Lake Como
Staying on Lake Como 2 nights, 3 days. Would like to hike in the Alps for one of the days. Does anyone know how or where it's best to do this? Any input helpful. Thank you in advance.

There is a club for alpine hiking in Italy. Here is a list of some refugios in the lake Como area: Rif Vittoria, Rif Bocca di Biandino, Rif Boffalora,Piani de Artavaggio, Pianni de Bobbio. A google search on the refugios should give you shot at the club's website.
Also there are at least two pass trails in the area. You might look for Passo de Tre Signori (mid-lake east side) I will have to get the other pass from my travel records.

For those that are interested in hiking in Lake Como, you should try the hike to the top of Grigna ... its long and sometimes hard but the rewards (view) are great. You can get info here:
