Stephanie,

I can't say I've stayed at Mount Juliet, as its prices are a bit too rich for my blood. The grounds, however, do look impressive, and it's located just down the road from an impressive historic sight, Jerpoint Abbey. Another place to check out - especially if you enjoy fine pottery - is Nicholas Mosse, located in Bennetsbridge. The shop is simply lovely, and they have a very appealing cafe. It's well worth a stop.

Before I sign-off, allow me to recommend a wonderful accommodation, located not far from Mount Juliet, in the quaint village of Inistioge. It's called Cullintra House, a 300-year-old farmhouse. I return to Cullintra time and time again, and while it's not nearly as upmarket as the Juliet, it's quite distinctive and situated on a charming working farm. Check out: indigo.ie/~cullhse

Best of luck.

Mount Juliet is a very upmarket place indeed.I haven`t stayed there but I have enjoyed lunch at the golf club there on several occasions and I saw Tiger Woods and most of America`s top golfers play there last fall.

The Mount Juliet is lovely. We stayed there a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. The grounds are beautiful and seem to go on forever. It is very quiet and there is not much action around as far as night life - if you want that. We had a wonderful dinner there.

The first room they gave us didn't have much of a view. We asked if there was a room available that might have a better view. There was, and it was also bigger. The first room was done nicely, and the fact that it was small was not a problem (you get used to that in Europe).

The young lady who serves as hostess (if she is still there) comes from UPSTATE New York.

There was going to be some BIG golf tournament held there a few months after our visit and you know those golfers don't pick just any old place for their tournaments!!!
